- Promote recovery from strain or injury.
- Increase joint range of motion and a more flexible spine.
- Compliment sports training by developing efficient patterns of movement.
- Correct over-training of muscle groups, which can lead to stress and injury.
- Develop functional fitness for daily life activity.
- Improve the way your body looks and feels.
What do I need for Pilates Mat Class?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move and stretch fully. There are some up-side-down postures, so clothing that is baggy may not be desirable.
Socks if your feet get chlled.
Mat (Optional) - The class will be conducted on the mats in our large workout room. However, if you desire you can bring your own mat. Pilates mats are thicker than yoga mats to allow cushioning of the spine. A mat at least a quarter of an inch thick is recommended. These mats can be found at Target and Walmart for a reasonable price.
Towel (Optional) – Many Pilates exercises require the head to be off the mat which ca be quickly tiring if you’re not used to it. A hand or bath-sized towel can be used to support the head during many of the exercises.
Doctor’s Note if you have had a recent surgery, have a medical condition where exercise is limited or prohibited, are pregnant, or within 6 months post-partum.
