Martial Arts Experience

  • 1977 to June 1980 – Studied Aikido at Oberlin College. Promoted to 2nd Kyu in Aikido by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan and Frank Hreha Sensei.
  • Subsequently — Studied Aikido at Tenshin Dojo with Haruo Matsuoka Sensei (late 1980’s), and later at the Cleveland Aikikai (mid-1990’s).
  • 2004 to 2006 – Studied Aikido with Liam Eddy Sensei.
  • April 2006 – Promoted to Shodan in Aikido by Liam Eddy Sensei.
  • Beginning in 2006, also began to study Tenshin Aikido and Goshin Aikijujutsu with Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
  • June 2007 – Appointed Assistant Instructor to Three Streams Aikibudo Tenshin Dojo by Vladimir Soroka Sensei and Liam Eddy Sensei.
  • 2007 to 2008 – Assistant Instructor of the Kent State University Aikido Club.
  • January 2009 – Promoted to Nidan in Aikido by Vladimir Soroka Sensei and Liam Eddy Sensei.
  • Beginning in May 2009, also began to study Daito Ryu Aikibudo with Antonino Certa Shihan and Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
  • Beginning in October 2009, also began to study Lameco Escrima with Guro Felix Valencia and Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
  • March 2012 – Appointed Instructor to Three Streams Aikibudo Tenshin Dojo by Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
  • October 2012 – Appointed Fukushidoin to the European Daito Kai by Antonino Certa Shihan.
  • November 2012 – Promoted to 2nd Level (Edged Weapons) in Lameco Escrima by Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
  • May 2013 – Promoted to 1st Kyu in Daito Ryu Aikibudo by Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
  • November 2013 — Promoted to Shodan in Daito-Ryu Aikibudo by Antonino Certa Shihan.
  • December 2013 – Promoted to Sandan in Goshin Aikijujutsu by Vladimir Soroka Sensei.
